4 jawans killed, 28 injured as bus carrying BSF personnel falls into gorge

A bus carrying Border Security Force (BSF) personnel fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, killing 4 jawans and injuring 28 others. The accident took place in the Brell Waterhail area.

Jammu-Kashmir bus accident: A bus carrying Border Security Force (BSF) personnel fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, killing 4 jawans and injuring 28 others. The accident took place in the Brell Waterhail area.

The bus was en route to the second phase of Assembly polls, which are scheduled for September 25.

According to media reports quoting officials, the bus was carrying 35 BSF jawans when the accident occurred. Local people and police rushed to the accident site to help the injured, who were soon taken to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save them, four of the injured soldiers succumbed to their injuries. 

According to News18, three of those killed have been identified as Dayanand, Ram Ajadiya Singh, and Sukh Basi Lal. Reportedly, two of the injured troops are in serious condition, while the rest are stable and being treated at City Hospital. The civilian bus driver also suffered injuries.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief R R Swain expressed condolences, saying, “We mourn the loss of these dedicated soldiers who tirelessly served the nation. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and assure them of all necessary support and assistance from the Jammu and Kashmir Police".

In view of the accident, senior officials, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, and other high-ranking officers, went to the hospital to review the treatment of the injured jawans.
