PTC News Desk: Three spectators tragically lost their lives while attending the air show at Chennai's Marina Beach, part of the celebrations for the 92nd Indian Air Force (IAF) Day. Medical professionals reported that at least one of the deceased suffered from heat stroke, highlighting the extreme conditions faced by attendees.

On the morning of the event, enthusiastic families began to gather at Marina Beach well before 11 am, eager to witness the spectacular aerial displays. As temperatures soared, many spectators sought relief from the intense sun, using umbrellas to shield themselves from the harsh rays.

The air show featured a range of impressive performances, including a demonstration by the Special Garud Force commandos who conducted a simulated rescue operation, showcasing their skills in freeing hostages. This display was just one of the many thrilling segments of the event.

In total, the air show presented 72 aircraft, including the advanced Rafale fighter jets and the indigenously manufactured Light Combat Aircraft Tejas. Other highlights included the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand and the iconic Dakota heritage aircraft, which drew significant attention from aviation enthusiasts and the general public alike.

The air show attracted an astonishing crowd of approximately 1.5 million people, making it one of the most highly anticipated events of 2024. Despite the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the celebrations, the unfortunate incidents serve as a somber reminder of the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions during large public gatherings.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, while the community mourns the loss of those who came to celebrate the IAF's achievements. The event aimed to inspire and entertain, yet it has ended in tragedy, prompting calls for increased safety measures at future public events.
