3 killed in police encounter in UP's Pilibhit in connection with Gurdaspur police station attack

PTC News Desk: Three people in connection with the attack on police station in Punjab's Gurdaspur district were killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district on December 23.
In a joint operation conducted by Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police, an encounter broke out killing three module members who allegedly fired at the police party. This terror module is involved in grenade attacks at police establishments in border areas of Punjab.
Three suspects claimed to be pro-khalistan sympathisers and members of banned outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force were allegedly involved in grenade attack at a police post in Punjab's Gurdaspur district.
The police also seized two AK-47 rifles, two pistols, and several live rounds from their custody.
According to the Pilibhit police, Punjab police tipped them about the presence of suspects in an area under their jurisdiction and subsequently an operatin for the manhunt was launched.
The encounter broke out in the early hours of Monday in which the three accused were killed.
"The accused fired at the police team on being challenged and in the retaliatory firing, they were killed. The joint operation was conducted by teams of Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police. The Punjab Police team also told us about their foreign connections. A probe has been launched into the entire incident," a senior official of the Pilibihit Police said in a media statement.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav took to his social media to confirm the same. "In a major breakthrough against a #Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force(KZF) terror module, a joint operation of UP Police and Punjab Police has led to an encounter with three module members who fired at the police party," he said.
