Srishti Tuli's body was retrieved from her Andheri flat.
Her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit (27) has been remanded in police custody until November 29.
According to an Indian Express article, the woman's family believes the accused murdered the Air India pilot and is trying to pass it off as suicide.
The accused's family, who live in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has accused him of public abuse and of controlling her dietary habits, forbidding her from eating non-vegetarian food.
Tuli was found dead in her Andheri (East) flat on Monday, and the police have stated that the early investigation pointed to her boyfriend's harassment.
The pair allegedly fought on Sunday in the women's flat before Pandit left for Delhi. The police investigation found that the woman called and told him she was about to kill herself. The man, who was also preparing for a pilot exam, returned to the flat and called the locksmith after finding the door was locked from the inside. He allegedly opened the room and found her unresponsive.
Tuli was transferred to Seven Hills Hospital in Marol but was declared dead, and the family and police were informed.
According to the police, Pandit was arrested under Section 108 of the BNS and brought before a court after Tuli's family submitted a complaint. He has been placed on a four-day police remand.
