24-year-old MTech student found dead in IIT Delhi hostel; authorities suspect suicide
PTC News Desk: A tragic incident unfolded at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, as a 24-year-old M.Tech student, identified as Sanjay Nerkar, was discovered dead in his hostel room, prompting suspicions of suicide, according to authorities on Friday.
The distressing discovery was made after Nerkar's family grew concerned upon being unable to reach him by phone. They reached out to his hostel mates, urging them to check on his well-being. Nerkar, a native of Nashik, Maharashtra, resided in room number 757 at Dronacharya Hostel within the institute, as confirmed by police sources.
As the hostel mates arrived at Nerkar's room, they found it locked from the inside, raising immediate alarm. Upon informing the hostel guard, the door was forcibly opened, revealing a tragic sight – Nerkar's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling.
The authorities were swiftly notified, and investigations have been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding Nerkar's untimely demise. The bereaved family members have been informed of the heartbreaking incident, and efforts are underway to shed light on the tragic turn of events.
