January 2024 Bank Holidays: For all those who work in banks on a regular schedule, even two or three day bank holidays offer a much-needed break from the daily grind. Usually Bank holidays are mostly associated with festivals, cultural events, parades, etc.
As the month of December is commencing soon with two days left to welcome the month of welcome year 2024, it’s a chance to relax, recharge and spend quality time with your loved ones.
The month of January is the first month of the Gregorian calendar, consisting of 31 days. The month marks the beginning of the New Year and is named after Janus, the Roman god of doors and gates, symbolising new beginnings and transitions.
During this month, if you are planning to complete your long-pending crucial paperwork at bank, you must be aware of the upcoming bank holidays in January, including the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays.
According to the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar, banks will be shut for 16 days in various states and districts across Nation.

January 7, 2024 (Sunday) - Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
January 11, 2024 (Thursday) – Bank holiday in Mizoram on the occasion of Missionary Day
January 12, 2024 (Friday) – Bank holiday in West Bengal on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti
January 13, 2024 (Saturday) – Banks to be closed as it is Second Saturday
January 14, 2024 (Sunday) – Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
January 15, 2024 (Monday) – Bank holidays in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Pongal/Thiruvalluvar Day
January 16, 2024 (Tuesday) – Bank holiday in West Bengal and Assam on the occasion of Tusu Puja
January 17, 2024 (Wednesday) – Bank holiday in several states on the auspicious occasion of Guru Govind Singh Jayanti
January 21, 2024 (Sunday) – Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
January 23, 2024 (Tuesday) – Bank holiday in several states on occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti
January 25, 2024 (Thursday) – Bank holiday in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of State Day
January 26, 2024 (Friday) – Bank holiday all over India on the occasion of Republic Day
January 27, 2024 (Saturday) - Banks to be closed as it is Fourth Saturday
January 28, 2024 (Sunday) - Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
January 31, 2024 (Wednesday): Bank holiday in Assam on the occasion of Me-Dam-Me-Phi
The Reserve Bank has notified the holidays under three brackets — the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
Online Banking Services to continue
On the above mentioned holidays, although the banks will be closed, the online banking services will be active which will allow customers to access their bank accounts and perform various transactions at any time, day or night, from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.
