Manipur Elections 2022: Priyanka Gandhi promises unemployment allowance
New Delhi, February 16: Ahead of assembly elections in Manipur, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday promised unemployment allowance to the youth of the state if her party is elected to power. While addressing a virtual rally in the poll-bound state, the Congress leader slammed the BJP government over the issue of unemployment and said "We will provide an unemployment allowance to all the unemployed youths of Manipur if Congress comes into power." "It is a disgrace that Manipur Public Service Commission exams have not been conducted in the last 5 years of BJP rule," stated the Congress General Secretary. Priyanka Gandhi also had a one-on-one virtual interaction with the party workers of different constituencies across the state. "The problems in Manipur are increasing under BJP Government because the BJP-led coalition government doesn't have the will to work for the betterment of the people of Manipur," Priyanka continued. "The tourism sector must be strengthened since it can contribute to the state's economic development and youth employability," said Priyanka Gandhi. She also criticized the BJP-led Government in both centre and state and stated that they create division based on religion, ethnicity, while Congress does politics of development. She also added that "'Ima Keithel,' which was built during the Congress administration, was badly managed during the Covid-19 pandemic, because of which women vendors face various problems." Senior Congress leaders like former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh attended the programme from Congress Bhavan in Imphal. Notably, the assembly elections in Manipur will be held on February 28 and March 5. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
