Major fire breaks out in Ranjit Avenue area of Punjab's Amritsar
Amritsar, April 4: A major fire broke out at an IELTS centre situated on the third floor of a building in B block of Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar district, Punjab The fire also engulfed the second floor. It took firefighters three hours to control the fire. However, no casualty was reported. As per information, it was around 2 pm that the fire first broke out on the third floor of the building and in no time it spread, engulfing the second floor and the adjoining building. Most IELTS centres are situated in this building. Students were immediately evacuated. Meanwhile, the police were also informed. Waris Masih, SHO, Ranjit Avenue Police Station, Amritsar, Punjab, fire brigade officer Lovedeep Singh said they received information that a fire broke out on the third floor of a building in Ranjit Avenue Complex, which also spread to the second floor. It took firefighters three hours to control the blaze. It is suspected that the fire was caused due to an electric short circuit.
