Messi tells Barcelona “he’s leaving”

Lionel Messi is certainly the greatest player in the soccer history. In a major setback to those who cherish Messi in Barcelona’s jersey; Messi has reportedly informed Barcelona that he intends to leave the club with immediate effect. He wants to activate a clause in his contract that would mean that the team where he spent his entire career would not receive a cent in compensation. This has come after an internal turmoil was reported by the sources. A former Barcelona player, Ronald Koeman who is now appointed as the coach reportedly warned Messi that he would no longer receive special treatment. The Coach also called several senior players- Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Messi’s neighbor and close friend, Luis Suárez and said that their services were no longer required and they are free to find a new club. Messi has put his decision in writing as he and his representatives sent a burofax, a signed and legally recognized communication, informing Barcelona that the player intends to cancel his contract. A club spokeswoman confirmed the club had received the document. Other reports state that Messi met the new coach last week and told the Dutchman he saw himself "more out than in" at the club. Koeman has vowed to "fight to put Barca back on top" and said at his unveiling that he was hopeful Messi would remain at the club for several more years.
