The National Testing Agency (NTA) released a new exam schedule for JEE Main 2022 on Wednesday. The agency changed the exam schedule “based on the numerous representations received from the candidates”, a statement said. The schedule has been changed for both sessions, 1 and 2. The first session of the engineering entrance exam will be held from June 20 to June 29, according to the revised schedule. The entrance exams were planned to be held on April 21, 24, 25, 29, and May 1 and 4, according to the previous timetable. The second session, which was initially intended for May 24-29, will now take place from July 21 to July 30. Contrary to its previous decision not to provide a correction window for first-session applicants, the NTA has now made one available. “In view of the numerous representations…, National Testing Agency has decided to provide the first and final opportunity to the candidates for modifying their particulars in the online application form of JEE (Main) 2022 session-1,” it said. The representation was submitted to avoid a direct clash with the board exams, following which NTA decided to postpone the JEE Main 2022 by a week. In 2021, the JEE Mains was held in four sessions. This year, the testing authorities have returned to the original format. The Joint Entrance Examination-Main comprises two papers; one is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes -- BE and B.Tech -- at NITs, IIITs and other government-funded technical institutions, and institutions and universities funded and recognised by participating state governments. Mains exam is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.
