Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib report new cases; total number of cases in Punjab 109

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Punjab has reached 109 after fresh cases were reported from Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Mohali and Faridkot on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the death toll in the state stands at 8. According to the information, one 18-year-old man from Sri Muktsar Sahib District has tested positive for coronavirus. A 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old man have tested positive for coronavirus in Ludhiana. Four new cases have been reported from Jawaharpur in Derabassi. So far, Mohali is having the highest number of coronavirus cases in the state. Jawaharpur village in Derabassi, Mohali, has so far reported 15 positive cases. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Mohali stands at 30. Earlier in the day, a case was reported positive from Faridkot. In the meanwhile, the district administration started the containment exercise and contact tracing. The report of the son of coronavirus patient in Nijatam Nagar tested positive. However, the details of the second case are yet to be ascertained. Out of the 8 deaths, Ludhiana has reported 2 deaths while Amritsar also reported 2. Punjab Government's U-turn on Curfew Extension

Punjab government on Wednesday took a U-turn on the decision of extending the curfew in the state. The state government released a document related to the orders of work from home for all the government employees till April 30. However, the letter was immediately withdrawn as its eighth point stated that all those orders regarding the curfew/lockdown have been extended till April 30. -PTC News
