Jaswant Rai appointed as Delhi U-19 Men’s cricket team coach

Chandigarh, October 2: Former Himachal Pradesh Ranji Trophy cricketer and national repute coach Jaswant Rai has been picked as the coach for Delhi U-19 men’s team for the upcoming domestic season. Chandigarh-based ex-cricketer, who has played 70 first-class matches, has also coached Himachal Pradesh senior men’s team, Himachal Pradesh women’s team and Punjab U-19 women’s team. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the senior men's team selector for Himachal Pradesh. Recently, Rai gained national attention when his student Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm medium-pacer who had previously made waves when bowling for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League, made his India debut. He stated that the win of the Delhi U-19 team and the advancement of young players to the senior team are his top priorities. The coaching staff and selection committee for the upcoming season were chosen by the Delhi District Cricket Association's newly constituted Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which is made up of former cricketers Gursharan Singh, Nikhil Chopra, and Reema Malhotra.
