IPL 2022: MS Dhoni steps down as CSK Captain, Ravindra Jadeja to lead

Indian Premier League 2022: Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK), since the first season of the Indian Premier League, announced his decision to step down as Captain. Ravindra Jadeja will lead the team in IPL2022. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season. Dhoni has captained in 204 matches in the IPL winning 121, losing 82 and one match ended in a no-result with a win percentage of 59.60. Under the astute leadership of Dhoni, CSK have won four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 as well as two Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014. Jadeja has done wonders with the bat as well as the ball for CSK over the years and is also one of the finest fielders in the IPL. Jadeja was one of the four players retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, including Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.

In the 2012 IPL player auction, Jadeja was bought by Chennai Super Kings for approx. Rs 9.8 crore, making him the most expensive player of the year's auction. In IPL 2022 mega auction, Jadeja was CSK's most expensive retention at Rs 16 crore.
