India reports 6,396 new Covid-19 cases, daily positivity rate at 0.69 percent
New Delhi, March 4: As the cases of Covid-19 are on continuous decline, India on Friday reported 6,396 fresh Covid-19 cases with a daily positivity rate of 0.69 percent, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
As per the data by government, India has 69,897 active cases which comprises 0.16 percent of the total cases. The recovery rate witnessed an improvement with 98.64 percent reported on Friday as compared to 98.62 percent on Thursday.

The total number of recoveries has reached to 4,23,67,070 with 13,450 people being recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, India, in the last 24 hours, logged 201 deaths taking the death toll to 5,14,589. A total of 9,23,351 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate in India is at 0.90 percent.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive against Covid-19, 178.29 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far. The vaccination drive across the country started on January 16, 2021.
The coronavirus situation in India has been improving with the daily Covid cases remaining below 10,000 for past few days. Several states have lifted the Covid restrictions while some states like Punjab are still having restrictions.
