New Delhi, April 10: India reported 1,054 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with a case positivity rate of 0.25 percent, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. With this, the active cases in the country now stand at 11,132, accounting for 0.03 percent of the total infections. According to the data update by the ministry, 29 patients lost their lives due to the infection in the country during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,21,685. As many as 1,258 Covid-19 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic reached 4,25,02,454. The recovery rate in the country has been recorded at 98.76 percent. Around 4,18,345 Covid samples were tested on Saturday and a total of 79.38 crore tests have been conducted in the country so far. The weekly positivity rate is currently at 0.23 per cent. So far, 1,85,70,71,655 vaccine shots have been administered to the people in India. Furthermore, over 17.47 crore balanced and unutilized coronavirus vaccine doses are still available in the Indian states and Union Territories (UTs), said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. "More than 188.55 crore (1,88,55,67,715) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category," the ministry updated. "More than 17.47 Crore (17,47,01,726) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," it informed.
