Solan, August 12: Amid heavy rain, a portion of a flyover connecting four-lane tunnel on the Kalka-Shimla highway in Himachal Pradesh's Solan collapsed on Thursday. A video of the spot has also gone viral on social media. Vehicular movement on the route has been halted for now. The tunnel has also been closed for vehicular movement.
The viral video shows vehicles stuck on the highway. As per local reports, no casualties have been reported so far. The flyover on the Kalka-Shimla highway connects the four-lane tunnel on Kalka-Shimla National Highway-5. The route is used by a number of vehicles everyday.
The hill state of Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing massive rain. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has put all Deputy Commissioners on alert and asked them to be ready to handle any eventuality.
On Thursday, a cloudburst was reported in Kullu's Anni subdivision, which led the death of two as their house was hit by the debris. The deceased have been identified as Chavelu Devi (55) and Kritika (17).In Deuthi village in the same area, 10 shops and three vehicles were washed away following a cloudburst and flash floods. The Kullu-Mandi highway was also blocked after following a landslide near Pandoh.
