Hero Hockey World League Semi-finals, India trounce Pakistan for third consecutive win

London: Blushes of cricket not withstanding, Indian hockey rose to occasion to record a resounding 7-1 win over arch rivals Pakistan in the Hero Hockey World League semi-finals in London on Sunday. The win, third from as many matches, keeps India at the top of the pool. India led 3-0 at the breather and made it 4-0 at the end of the third quarter. The most refreshing part of India's win was two penalty corner conversions by young Harmanpreet Singh, who in the absence of injured Rupinderpal Singh, had to step in as a penalty corner taker. Besides two penalty corner conversions, India scored five field goals before conceding one in the fourth quarter. It was 56th win for India over Pakistan. For India Harmanpreet Singh, Talwinder Singh and Akashdeep Singh(two goals each) and Pradeep Mor were the scorers. Pakistan had lost to Canada 0-6 in their opening game. India has beaten Scotland 4-1 and Canada 3-0 in earlier games. —PTC News
