Washington, April 19: Google is likely to bring back its payment app Wallet. According to The Verge, the tech giant is developing a Wallet interface for Google Play Services that will act as a way to access and manage your payment and transit cards, passes, rewards memberships and more. Furthermore, with the new developments, users might be able to get the new Wallet UI from within that app. Google wallet is also likely to store your loyalty points for purchases made through the partner brands. Google Wallet started as Google's NFC payment app in 2011, allowing users to store payment cards digitally. It evolved as a digital (and even physical) payment service over time, becoming a Venmo competitor until being merged with Android Pay to form Google Pay in 2018. By allowing users to store cards in Wallet, Google could soon have two platforms that are critical to consumers. When the Wallet app launches, Google will have two apps: one for contactless payments and another for managing digital cards and tracking spending, among other things. It could also share the launch timeframe for the Wallet app in a new avatar, which will be available to both Android and iOS users worldwide.
