Farmers set to gherao Karnal Mini-Secretariat, hold mahapanchayat; Internet suspended

Farmers' Protest: Thousands of farmers are expected to gather in Karnal on Tuesday, September 7, to hold a 'mahapanchayat' in a protest against the August 28 lathicharge on farmers. Besides, farmers have given a call to gherao Karnal Mini Secretariat. In view of the call for mahapanchayat, the Haryana government has deployed central forces, suspended mobile internet, and even ordered a ban on the gathering of people in the city by imposing Section 144. Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, which is heading the farmers' protest against three farm laws, has sought registration of an FIR against those officers who had allegedly ordered a lathi charge on agitators during their protest against a BJP event in Karnal on August 28. Meanwhile, the Haryana Police issued a traffic advisory ahead of the farmers' call for gherao of Karnal Mini Secretariat.
