The ongoing 'free-toll' move introduced by protesting farm groups against the three new central agri-laws has led to a Rs 267 crore revenue loss at all 25 toll plazas in Punjab.
Intensifying their protest against the farm laws, various farmers’ organizations have not been allowing charging of fee at toll plazas across Punjab since October 1.
RP Singh, National Highway Authority of India regional officer said, "We continue to face Rs 3 crore losses per day at all toll plazas in Punjab."
The farmers' leaders are in talks with the centre and are protesting in Delhi since 34 days now.
However, the farmers are adamant to get the three laws repealed; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
