Chandigarh, August 31: After death of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, the series of ransom calls to several famous actors and prominent leaders by gangsters is increasing with the each passing day. In an update, famous Punjabi director Mohit Banwait received an extortion call of Rs one crore. The extortionist identified himself as Goldy Brar and stated that he is close to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The investigation is underway. In the complaint to police, Mohit Banwait said that he received a call on his phone and caller identified himself as Goldy Brar. The gangster said, “If you want to protect your life, you have to pay one crore.” After some time, Mohit received WhatsApp message from unknown number on which Mohit’s house number and vehicle number were written. Meanwhile, while lodging the complaint Mohit also stated that he also received threats via voice recordings. Earlier, also several actors, businessmen, singers and leaders received ransom or extortion calls. Earlier, Punjabi singer Parmish Verma was attacked in Sector-91. It saved his life with great difficulty. After this, when Gippy Garewal’s Carry On Jatta was released, he got a call for extortion. In this case, a case was registered against many people including gangster Dilpreet Baba in Phase-Eight police station. -PTC News
