The action drama film 'Gadar 2' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel recently triggered a tsunami at the box office, breaking into the Rs 400 crore club.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Gadar 2' earned Rs 40 crore on its first day in theatres. It became the second-best opener of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'.
On Saturday, SRK had his legendary #AskSRK session on X, where he fielded questions from fans.
During the session, a fan asked whether he had seen 'Gadar 2'. "Yeah, loved it!!" he responded.
The film, directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma in the key roles.
'Gadar 2' is a sequel to the 2001 successful film that was released in theaters. Sunny Deol played Tara, a truck driver, and Ameesha Patel played Sakina in the film, which was set during India's partition in 1947.
'Gadar 2' follows Tara Singh as he crosses the border in a daring attempt to save his son, Utkarsh Sharma, who has been captured in Pakistan.
The film has taken the box office by storm, hitting the coveted Rs 400 crore milestone in India.
According to trade analyst, Gadar 2 will challenge the domestic box office receipts of Pathaan and Baahubali 2. While Pathaan has the highest lifetime domestic collection of Rs 543.05 crore, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has a lifetime domestic collection of Rs 510.99 crore.
Sunny resorted to Instagram to share his delight after the film grossed Rs 400 crore. S"Thank you everyone that you liked 'Gadar 2'. I never thought this would happen. We have crossed Rs 400 crore and will go further," Sunny said.
"It was possible only because of you. You all liked the film. You all liked Tara Singh, Sakeena and the whole family. Thank you," he added.
