PTC News Desk: The Delhi Tis Hazari court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against singer Sapna Chaudhary for failing to appear in a cheating case.

The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police charge-sheeted Sapna following a complaint from Pawan Chawla. An FIR was filed against her in 2021.

Rashmi Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) on Sapna after she failed to appear in court.

The CJM stated, "A last day of hearing (LDOH) exemption was sought on behalf of the accused. Even today, the accused has failed to appear before the court despite calls made to her."

Sapna Chaudhary has been put up for the accused's appearance/further proceedings on October 25, 2024.

"Let NBW be issued against the accused, returnable for the next day of hearing (NDOH)," the court ruled on Tuesday.

Advocate Randhir Lal Sharma and complainant Pawan Chawla appeared via video conference.

It is stated that the accused got money from the complainants under various pretexts and through numerous business activities. The accused and a family member then misappropriated the funds and used them for family purposes.

On May 28, 2024, the Court took cognisance of the crime under Sections 420 (Cheating) and 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust) of the IPC.
