PTC News Desk: Sam Asghari, the husband of pop icon Britney Spears, has announced the end of their marital journey after a 14-month union. The decision to divorce was formalised through a petition submitted citing "irreconcilable differences" between 29-year-old Asghari and 41-year-old Spears. The couple's engagement occurred in September 2021, culminating in a star-studded wedding ceremony in June 2022, characterised by both intimacy and celebrity attendance.

Recent rumors surrounding the couple's relationship struggles have been the subject of speculation in US tabloids. The news of their split was shared by Asghari on Instagram. In his post, he conveyed, "After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous [sic] so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."

While Spears has not yet addressed the divorce directly on her social media, she did share a post with her followers about her upcoming plans to purchase a horse. According to court records, Asghari's petition for dissolution of marriage, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, includes requests for spousal support and coverage of attorneys' fees.

Asghari, an Iranian-American actor, model, and fitness trainer, initially crossed paths with Spears during the filming of her music video for "Slumber Party" in 2016. Throughout her ongoing battle to end her father's conservatorship over her affairs, Asghari provided unwavering support. Their wedding, held at Spears' residence in Thousand Oaks, California, was attended by luminaries such as Paris Hilton, Madonna, and Drew Barrymore.

In the public eye, the couple's absence of wedding rings did not go unnoticed prior to the official announcement of their separation. The timing of this separation coincides with Spears' preparations to release her memoir, titled "The Woman in Me," scheduled for October. This marks the end of Spears' third marriage.

In 2004, Spears' short-lived marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander made headlines when it was annulled after only 55 hours. This union was followed by a marriage to rapper Kevin Federline, which lasted from 2004 to 2007, resulting in Federline gaining sole custody of their two children.
