Missed out on tickets for January 25 concert? Coldplay adds second show in Ahmedabad as demand soars
Within moments of ticket sale opening, queues on BookMyShow swelled into hundreds of thousands, leaving many fans unable to secure tickets
PTC Web Desk: If you missed out on tickets for Coldplay’s January 25, 2025, concert in Ahmedabad, there’s good news. Shortly after the first show sold out on Saturday afternoon, BookMyShow announced an additional concert on January 26, 2025, at the same venue.
The ticket sales for Coldplay’s fourth India concert—scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad on January 25, 2025—opened at noon on Saturday. Yet, within moments, the queues on BookMyShow swelled into the hundreds of thousands, leaving many fans unable to secure tickets.
By 12:30 pm, a notification appeared on the booking page stating, “Last few seats left for the show on January 25, 2025. A 2nd show has been added for January 26, 2025, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The queues will start at 12:45 pm today and the tickets will go live at 1 pm.” The process repeated itself for the second concert, with queues once again running into the lakhs as soon as sales began.
Coldplay first announced two concerts in September for January 18 and 19, 2025, at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. Due to high demand, a third show was added on January 21 at the same venue. The latest addition of two shows in Ahmedabad follows reports of alleged ticket black marketing.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched an investigation into the unauthorised sale of tickets for concerts by Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh. Reports indicate that tickets sold out in minutes on platforms like Zomato Live and later appeared on unauthorised sites at inflated prices.
The upcoming concerts at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which can host over 132,000 attendees, are touted as the largest in Coldplay’s history. According to BookMyShow, these events are set to become the “biggest stadium shows” of the band’s career, offering a combined audience of potentially over 200,000 fans.
Earlier, Coldplay enthusiasts expressed their frustration on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) after encountering long wait times, marking their third unsuccessful attempt to secure tickets. During the sale of tickets for Coldplay’s three concerts in Mumbai, scheduled for January 2025, similar queues of up to 8,00,000 users were reported.
One user shared their exasperation by posting a screenshot showing a queue position of approximately 3,50,000, humorously commenting, “Why is @bookmyshow making me relive my JEE Main rank again and again?” Another user, positioned around 300,000 in the queue, joked, “Even if there were two Narendra Modi Stadiums, I’d still not get a ticket,” followed by a crying emoji.
