PTC Web Desk: One labourer was killed, and another was critically injured after being struck by Marathi actress Urmila Kothare's car in Mumbai's Kandivali area, the police reported. The accident, which also left the actress and her driver injured, occurred near the Poisar Metro station late at night.
According to initial reports, the vehicle, allegedly travelling at high speed, lost control and hit two workers engaged in metro construction. Tragically, one labourer died on the spot, while the other sustained severe injuries. The actress and her driver were saved by the timely deployment of airbags, though both suffered minor injuries.
A police official from the Samta Nagar police station confirmed, "Urmila Kothare's car struck two metro labourers near the Poisar Metro station in Kandivali East shortly after midnight. One worker lost his life, and the other was seriously injured. The actress and her driver were also hurt but were saved due to the car's airbags."
The police have registered a case against the driver at the Samta Nagar police station and launched an investigation. The vehicle was significantly damaged in the incident, and further details about the injuries to Kothare and her driver are awaited.
Urmila Kothare, a celebrated name in Marathi cinema, has starred in films like 'Duniyadaari', 'Shubhmangal Saavdhan', and 'Ti Sadhya Kay Karte'. She recently returned to television with the Star Pravah show 'Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe', marking her small-screen comeback after 12 years. Her husband, actor-director Addinath Kothare, son of filmmaker Mahesh Kothare, has not commented publicly on the incident.
