Sunita spoke with the media on Govinda's health, stating he is "better" and will be discharged in two days.
"He had improved. We will admit him to the normal ward today. He is a lot better than yesterday. He will be discharged the day after tomorrow. He recovered with everyone's blessings...He has a large fan base, and people are praying for him...I would like to tell the fans not to panic, he is fine," she said.
According to Mumbai Police, the incident occurred at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday when Govinda accidentally discharged his licensed revolver while placing it back in the cupboard. He was preparing to leave for Kolkata at the time.
Shashi Sinha, Govinda's manager, said that "Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licenced revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg." The doctor took out the bullet, and his condition was stable. He's still in the hospital."
