Elvish Yadav snake venom case: Punjab High Court directs police to safeguard animal rights activists
In the preceding month, Elvish Yadav faced allegations of issuing death threats to the welfare officer of People for Animals (PFA) in Ghaziabad.
PTC News Desk: In a significant development concerning the Noida snake venom case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued instructions to police officials to enhance the security measures for animal rights activists who lodged complaints against YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav.
According to reports from E-Times, the court has directed the police to ensure the safety of these activists whenever they need to appear before the Gurugram court.
This directive comes on the heels of recent allegations against Yadav, where he was accused of issuing death threats to Sourabh Gupta, a welfare officer of People for Animals (PFA) in Ghaziabad. Gupta filed a complaint in the Nandgram area of Ghaziabad, alleging that Elvish had threatened him and his brother via social media platforms.
Gupta stated that since his team exposed the Snake Venom Case gang in Noida, they have been facing repeated threats. In his complaint, Gupta expressed concerns for his safety and emphasised that if any harm befell him or his brother, Elvish and his supporters should be held accountable.
Elvish Yadav's association with the Noida snake venom case has garnered significant attention in recent times. Last year, an FIR was lodged against him after his name surfaced in connection with a rave party where snakes and venom were allegedly discovered.
Subsequently, politician and animal rights advocate Maneka Gandhi accused the YouTuber of supplying snake venom to rave parties in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Charges were filed under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
On March 17 of this year, Elvish Yadav was arrested and remanded into judicial custody. Subsequent reports from NDTV indicated that the YouTuber had "admitted to arranging snakes and snake venom" at rave parties. According to insider sources cited by the news portal, Yadav confessed to interacting with the accused individuals at various rave parties and being in contact with them. He was subsequently granted bail on March 22.
