Another Alia Bhatt deepfake goes viral, sparking fan concerns about AI
In a video posted to Instagram, Alia Bhatt participates in the "get ready with me" craze in her latest deepfake.
PTC News Desk: In the midst of controversy and indignation surrounding a number of deepfake videos, star Alia Bhatt has once again been taken advantage of by technology.
In a video posted to Instagram, Alia Bhatt participates in the "get ready with me" craze in her latest deepfake. She can be seen applying makeup and getting ready in the video while wearing a black kurta.
A deepfake video of Alia has previously gained widespread popularity on social media.
A deepfake film featuring actor Wamiqa Gabbi's face fusing with Alia Bhatt's has previously gone popular. Her second deepfake included a woman making lewd motions with an Alia Bhatt-morphed visage. In response to Alia Bhatt's deepfake video, a number of Instagram users expressed worry over the improper usage of artificial intelligence (AI).
One user stated, "AI is growing more and more dangerous every day." "I am starting to get scared of AI," remarked another person. Another acquaintance of Alia Bhatt said, "I really hope you have consent for using the AI that uses real human faces."
Artificial intelligence is used in the creation of deepfakes, which are synthetic media that change both visual and aural aspects through complex algorithms.
Aamir Khan, Sara Tendulkar, Ranveer Singh, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, and Katrina Kaif were among the celebs whose deepfakes had previously been discovered online.
In an effort to counter the concerning trend of deepfakes, the government has instructed all intermediaries—which includes social media sites like X and Instagram—to make sure users "do not violate the prohibited content" provision of the IT Act. According to the Center, producing and disseminating deepfakes is punishable by a stiff fine of Rs 1 lakh and up to three years in prison.
Deepfake videos were produced by misusing AI, something that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also noted as a "big concern." "During the times of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that technology should be used responsibly," warned him.
