PTC News Desk: Alia Bhatt, who is currently making news for her recently released film 'Jigra', has stated that she has been clinically diagnosed with ADHD.
Alia Bhatt revealed that she is on the ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) spectrum after passing a psychological exam.
Reflecting on her childhood, she recounted how she frequently spaced out in class or during conversations, which her classmates had always noticed. However, she only recently realised why.
Alia stated that she feels most present and at ease when she is in front of the camera, embodying her character, and now when she is with her daughter, Raha. These are the two times in her life when she feels most relaxed and focused.
During the same interview, Alia Bhatt described how her beauty artist, Puneet B Saini, asked for two hours to complete her makeup on her wedding day. Alia stated that she was not willing to devote that much time, especially on such a beautiful day, because she wanted to relax. She claimed that her Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) prevented her from being patient or interested in spending too much time.
What is ADHD?
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It is most commonly diagnosed in childhood or adolescence. Many children with ADHD continue to have symptoms as adults, yet go on to live healthy lives and have excellent careers.
ADHD Symptoms
This disorder's symptoms include impulsivity, hyperactivity, and difficulties paying attention; it is a chronic illness.
Forgetfulness: ADHD alters the functioning of the brain's working memory and short-term memory. This has a further impact on memory, causing them to forget current and distant events.
Time Management
Under active-dopamine dysregulation, a person is unable to set aside time for necessary activity. As a result, they wind up procrastinating for a long period before racing through the rest of the day's tasks.
Procrastination
Underactivity in the prefrontal cortex impairs executive functioning, resulting in difficulty in noticing the importance of the task at hand. As a result, the person continues to put off doing the work and procrastinate.
Hyperfocus
It refers to the practice of focusing intensely and attentively on the subject at hand. People with ADHD have trouble shifting their focus due to problems controlling neurotransmitters, particularly dopamine.
