PTC News Desk: After 'Shaktimaan' fame Mukesh Khanna, Poet Kumar Vishwas took a veiled dig at Shatrugan Sinha and his daughter Sonakshi Sinha indirectly targeting her interfaith marriage during a public event.

"Teach your children the Ramayana, or someone else might take away the 'Lakshmi' of your house, even if the house is named 'Ramayana',” Vishwas said at a poetry event in Uttar Pradesh.

Shatrughan Sinha’s Mumbai house is called ‘Ramayana’ and Sonakshi Sinha recently married her longtime boyfriend and actor, Zaheer Iqbal, which suggests that Viswas was indirectly referring to their marriage.

Kumar's remarks have sparked a controversy and drew sharp criticism from the netizens.

Vishwas's remarks ignited a heated online debate. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticized the poet for making "vulgar" and "low" comments to gain attention, asking, "Doesn’t a girl have the right to marry the person she chooses?"

She further stated that if Vishwas had studied the Ramayana, he "would have understood love," and added, "Poet Sir, who teaches others' children to read the Ramayana and Geeta, while harboring disdain for Sonakshi’s husband's religion—have you forgotten how beautifully mutual love is portrayed in the Ramayana?"

Another Congress leader, Surendra Rajput, also condemned Vishwas's remarks as "cheap," claiming even "Lord Rama would not forgive them."

Rajput tweeted, "Kumar Vishwas, you have a daughter too. Remember, all the malice and shame you've directed at Shatrughan Sinha Sir and his daughter Sonakshi Sinha will eventually come back to haunt you."

Many others on social media joined in criticizing the poet for his comments.

Vishwas has not yet addressed the controversy.
