Ban on ACs in Punjab govt offices: Amid an unprecedented electricity crisis, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ordered that all government offices would function from 8 am to 2 pm from July 2 onwards. On Thursday, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh ordered curtailment in timings of state government offices from July 2. Also, he appealed to government offices to make judicious use of electricity, adding that the situation was dire as the peak demand in the state had touched a whopping 14500 MW. Electricity rates hiked in Punjab The Chief Minister also urged the agitating Power Department employees to call off their protest, which aggravated the crisis. Likewise, he has constituted a three-member committee, comprising Additional Chief Secretary – Development, CMD – PSPCL, and Special Secretary Finance, to resolve the grievances of the agitating employees. -PTC News
