Amritsar, July 10: A massive fire broke out in a dry fruit godown in Punjab's Amritsar district on Sunday morning. Locals reportedly noticed smoke coming from the dry fruit warehouse and alerted the owner immediately. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and took control of the fire. The fire accident took place in Majitha Mandi's Loha Bazar. Varun Newatia, the warehouse's owner, claimed that he had received a call from the neighbours about smoking coming from his godown. The majority of the items were cashew nuts, which were destroyed," he added. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The warehouse owners have not yet released a statement regarding the loss, but it can run into crores. According to authorities, as many as six fire tenders put out the fire.
