DRDO successfully test-fires its laser-guided anti-tank guided missile
In a major development, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested its laser-guided anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) at a firing range in Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, the officials said on Wednesday. The laser-guided anti-tank guided missile, with a range of up to 4 km, was test-fired from an MBT Arjun Tank at KK Ranges in Armoured Corps Centre and School (ACCS) in Ahmednagar on Tuesday. The laser-guided anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) is likely to enhance the capability of firepower of the Indian Army along the frontiers with Pakistan and China, the officials stated. Meanwhile, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on successful test firing the ATGM. According to the official, the missile is very much potential of defeating protected armoured vehicles. ATGM has been developed with multiple-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials from the gun of MBT Arjun." The ATGM is developed by the Pune-based Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in association with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE), news agency PTI reported. -PTC News
