New Delhi, August 22: Farmers from across the country arrived at Delhi's Jantar Mantar early Monday morning to protest against unemployment. Meanwhile, in the midst of the protests, the Delhi police detained some farmers and increased security on all borders. According to reports, the Delhi Police detained some farmers protesting along the Delhi-UP border in Ghazipur. Meanwhile, the city's traffic was disrupted as police set up checkpoints at the borders, resulting in a traffic jam. Traffic has stalled at the Noida-Delhi Chilla border as security has been increased at the border entry points. Delhi Police beefed up security in the national capital as the farmers staged a protest at Jantar Mantar. Earlier, several visuals from Delhi showed heavy police deployment ahead of the farmers' protest. Security has been tightened at Delhi's Singhu border and concrete barricades have been put up by the police. Security has also been increased at the Ghazipur border on the Delhi-Meerut expressway. delhisecurity5 Earlier on Sunday, farmers started to arrive in the capital, while farm leader Rakesh Tikait was detained on his way to protest. Following this, Tikait accused the Delhi police of working at the behest of the Centre. "The Delhi Police working at the behest of the government cannot suppress the voice of the farmers. This arrest will bring a new revolution. This struggle will continue till the last breath. Won't stop, won't get tired, won't bow down," Tikait said on Twitter.
