Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain sent to ED custody till June 9

New Delhi [India], May 31: Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has been sent to ED custody till June 9 in connection with the money laundering case. Jain was arrested by ED on Monday and was later taken into custody under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after a few hours of questioning. The health minister was produced before a court on Tuesday. Earlier, on Monday the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain in a case connected to hawala transactions related to a Kolkata-based company. In April, the ED had said assets worth Rs 4.81 crore of Satyendar Jain's family and companies "beneficially owned and controlled" by him were provisionally attached as part of the money laundering inquiry against him. In 2018 too, the ED had questioned the Aam Aadmi Party leader in connection with the case. SatyendraJain-4 Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday refuted reports claiming that the agency has filed a closure report against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's cabinet minister Satyendar Jain in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case. While addressing the media, CBI official said that, "No closure report has been filed against Satyendar Jain." The CBI had registered a DA case against Satyendar Jain on August 24, 2017, and filed a charge sheet against him on December 3, 2018, as per the sources.
