Patiala, August 14: The health of Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, who is lodged in the Central Jail, Patiala, deteriorated. The singer has been taken to a private hospital. Daler Mehndi, according to sources, has been admitted to Fortis hospital in Mohali and is being treated for an old eye ailment. The Punjabi singer has been jailed at the Patiala Central Jail since July 20. According to information, Daler Mehndi complained about blurred vision, prompting the jail administration to form a medical board of doctors. He was then admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali based on the board's recommendation. Notably, on March 16, 2018, a Patiala court sentenced Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi to two years in jail in a human trafficking case. A fine of Rs 1,000 was also imposed on him. The singer was, however, released on bail bond. The Patiala Police had booked Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Mehndi on a complaint filed by Bakshish Singh. Later, 35 more complaints of fraud against the brothers came to the fore. The complainants had alleged that Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Mehndi had taken money from them to help them migrate to the United States illegally, but they failed to do so. Bakshish Singh had alleged that the Punjabi pop singer had taken money from him for taking him to Canada. As per reports, the Mehndi brothers had taken two troupes in 1998 and 1999 during which 10 persons were taken to the United States as group members and later dropped off there illegally.
