Cyclone Nisarga alert! North India likely to receive above-normal rainfall
Coronavirus, earthquakes, cyclone Amphan, Uttarakhand fire, and now the cyclone Nisarga alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the depression over the Arabian Sea is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression and further into a Cyclonic Storm (Nisarga) over during the next 24 hours. Nisarga would cross north Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts between Harihareshwar (Raigad, Maharashtra) and Daman during the evening/night of Wednesday. Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted that the Coastal Maharashtra and Gujarat will witness heavy rainfall and strong winds due to the cyclone Nisarga on June 3. Likewise, Konkan and Goa regions are likely to witness moderate or heavy rainfall on June 2-3. As soon as the cyclone Nisarga will approach Maharashtra coasts, Mumbai, Raigad, Palghar, Thane are likely to experience strong wind with speed up to 105-115 kmph gusting to 125 kmph. 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph wind speed will be seen in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg districts. Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at some places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places is expected over north Konkan and north Maharashtra on June 3 and 4. The Meteorological Department has asked the fishermen to avoid Maharashtra coast and Gujarat coast during June 3-4. -PTC News
