Coronavirus: 3 positive cases reported in Nawanshahr; total number of cases in Punjab 29

After three family members tested positive for coronavirus in Phillaur, Jalandhar, on Tuesday, three more people have been tested positive for COVID 19 in Nawanshahr. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has jumped to 29. On Monday, two cases were reported, one each from Mohali and Nawanshahr. Meanwhile, Punjab has reported one death so far who was identified as Baldev Singh, who died of heart attack in Banga Civil hospital, later tested positive.

Curfew in Punjab

Punjab Government on Monday imposed curfew in the state. CM Captain Amarinder Singh reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary and DGP Punjab Police. He further took to Twitter and said that "Entire world is under threat of COVID 19 and we in Punjab are no different. Difficult times call for difficult decisions. Hence for the good of everyone, curfew has been imposed. We have already taken necessary steps to help elderly and underprivileged. All must adhere and cooperate." Chandigarh Administration announces cricket stadium a temporary jail

The Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday announced the Punjab Jail Manual, Sector 16 Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex in Manimajra as temporary jail till prohibitory orders remain in operation keeping in view the urgencies arisen due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic. Chandigarh has reported 7 confirmed cases so far. Therefore, Chandigarh has imposed curfew on Monday in an order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. -PTC News
