Punjab tally rises to 101 after Jalandhar and Faridkot reported fresh cases

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 101 after fresh cases were reported from Jalandhar and Faridkot on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the death toll in the state stands at 8. According to the information, one more case has been reported positive in Faridkot. Likewise, the district administration has started the containment exercise and contact tracing. The man is the contact of the sole Faridkot person who had earlier tested positive. Jalandhar reported a positive case of coronavirus on Wednesday after the report of the son of coronavirus patient in Nijatam Nagar tested positive. So far, Mohali is having the highest number of coronavirus cases in the state. Jawaharpur village in Derabassi, Mohali, has so far reported 11 positive cases. Out of these, Ludhiana reported 2 deaths while Amritsar also reported 2 deaths. One death has been reported each from Hoshiarpur, Mohali, Nawanshahr, and Pathankot. Punjab gives 24-hour deadline to untraced Tablighi Jamaatis

Amid coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab Health Department on Wednesday gave a 24-hour deadline to all Tablighi Jamaat participants of the Delhi Nizamuddin Markaz event, who were hiding out in the state, to report to the nearest police station, or else face criminal prosecution. -PTC News
