Coronavirus peak in Punjab in first 10 days of April: CMC Ludhiana
COVID-19 situation in Punjab: While Punjab continues to report surge in coronavirus cases, the Christian Medical College (CMC) Ludhiana has predicted that the state may witness its peak in the first ten days of April.
The Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare (PSHFW) shared the updated status of COVID-19 situation in Punjab and the status of vaccination of the eligible categories of beneficiaries.

The meeting was informed that the positive cases and deaths were rising rapidly in some of the districts. The projections presented by CMC Ludhiana showed a steep rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Punjab and peak around April 6.
According to the estimates, the number would be decreasing by mid or late May, 2021. The estimate also suggested that Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, SAS Nagar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala are expected to contribute more cases and positivity is likely to be high in the younger population of 40 years of age or less.

Meanwhile, DGP Dinkar Gupta apprised that since the last meeting when the decision to challan the COVID protocol offenders along with RT-PCR testing was taken, 90,360 persons had been challaned and tested for Covid-19. He requested for a special vaccination drive in the police lines.
All districts have also been asked to strengthen their teams so that the data entry of Covid-19 sampling and transportation of samples to the designated Lab takes minimum time, and the result is made available within 24 hours.
