Coronavirus: Mass cremations starts as Delhi faces deluge of deaths due to COVID-19
Amid the second wave of coronavirus and oxygen shortage, mass cremations have started as Delhi has been facing a deluge of COVID-19 deaths. India on Saturday recorded the world's highest daily tally of 3.46 lakh coronavirus infections on Thursday, with the second wave crushing its weak health infrastructure. Several hospitals have declared that they are having a shortage of oxygen. Amid mass cremations in Delhi, several people are being forced to keep the dead bodies at home. Also Read | Zydus gets DCGI approval for emergency use of Virafin in treating moderate COVID-19 cases As per the report, a Delhi resident, Nitish Kumar, was forced to keep the body of his deceased mother at home for nearly two days as he failed to find a space in the city's crematoriums. Kumar said that he ran pillar to post but all crematoriums had some reason. He said that one of the crematoriums told him that it had run out of wood. This shows a sign of deluge of COVID-19 deaths in Delhi where coronavirus cases have been rising. Delhi is the worst-affected city in the country.
