India records it's highest one-day rise in Covid-19 cases and deaths

India reported 9,851 new COVID-19 cases and 273 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Friday morning. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2,26,770 including 1,10,960 active cases. Of total 2,26,770 cases, 1,09,462 patients have been cured and discharged while 6348 patients succumbed to the pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday. The graph of coronavirus cases in India has been rising constantly. Last month, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Randeep Guleria had said that the Coronavirus is likely to peak in June-July. On May 8, he was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "According to modeling data and the way our cases are increasing, it is likely that peak can come in June and July. But there are many variables and with time only we will know how much they are effective and the effect of extending the lockdown.” Large number of people coming for Carona test due to awareness India extended the nationwide lockdown for containment zones on May 30. However, inter-state or intra-state movements have been allowed without any permission. India is one of the countries that brought the idea of lockdown much earlier to contain the spread of coronavirus. On the first day of the lockdown on March 25, the number of coronavirus cases in India was around 600 with just 13 deaths. The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 6,702,700 out of which 393,212 patients died while 3,251,595 have been recovered. -PTC News
