Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 1,82,143; death toll 5,164
The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has increased to 1,82,143 after the highest-spike of 8,380 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Sunday morning. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the death toll in the country has increased to 5,164 after 193 new deaths were reported from the country in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Central government on Saturday announced the extension of nationwide lockdown in the containment zones till June 30. The Ministry of Home Affairs, on Saturday, issued guidelines that stated that the activities that were prohibited earlier will open in the areas outside the containment zones in a phased manner. India has been placed under the lockdown since March 25. Currently, it is lockdown 4 which will end on Sunday midnight. The new guidelines will come into effect from June 1, 2020, and will be effective till June 30, 2020. In the new guidelines, the timings for Night Curfew have been changed. The revised timings of the night curfew, restrictions on the movement of individuals for all non-essential activities, will be from 9 pm to 5 am.
