Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 1,45,380; death toll 4,167

The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has increased to 1,45,380 after 6,535 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday morning. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the death toll has increased to 4,167 after 146 new deaths were reported from the country in the last 24 hours. The Health Ministry was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: “Spike of 6,535 new COVID-19 cases and 146 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,45,380 including 80,722 active cases, 60,490 cured and discharged, and 4,167 deaths.” COVID-19 | RECOVERY RATE IMPROVES TO 41.57% India has been witnessing a spike in the coronavirus cases even after the country has been placed under the lockdown since March 25. The rise in cases has come at a time when the central government has relaxed the lockdown norms, permitting staggered movement of individuals and functioning of businesses to restart the stagnant economy. Recently, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Director, Dr. Randeep Guleria, has categorically stated that coronavirus cases in India would peak around June-July. Meanwhile, this has increased the concern among people as theories of the novel virus dying in hot conditions continue to get debunked.
