Coronavirus breaks all records with more than 2 lakh cases in 24 hours

Coronavirus India Updates: India on Friday recorded the biggest-ever single-day spike of COVID-19 cases taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,42,91,917. India reported 2,17,353 new COVID-19 cases, 1,18,302 discharges, and 1,185 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry. The total number of cases has increased to 1,42,91,917 while the recoveries reached 1,25,47,866 and Active cases stand at 15,69,743. The death toll in the country has increased to 1,74,308. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 26,34,76,625 samples tested for COVID-19 up to April 15, including 14,73,210 samples that were tested on Thursday. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand recorded the highest single-day spike of 2,220 new COVID-19 cases, pushing its infection tally to 1,16,244. Nine more people succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll to 1,802. A total of 12,484 patients are under treatment in the state. Haryana recorded 5,858 new COVID-19 cases, its biggest single-day jump so far, and 18 fatalities. Infection tally rises to 3,35,800, death toll to 3,334. The number of active cases of the disease in the state stands at 30,518. In the meanwhile, Centre asked states to keep grocery stores/warehouses, chemist shops outside the restrictions under Section 144 to maintain smooth supplies.
