China’s Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine is safe, says Brazil institute

Coronavirus Update: A COVID-19 vaccine, CoronaVac, developed by China's Sinovac Biotech is said to be safe in a clinical trial in Brazil, the preliminary results said. São Paulo's Butantan Institute, one of Brazil's leading biomedical research centers, said the 2 -dose vaccine, proved to be safe in a trial that was administered on around 9,000 volunteers. As per the report, Butantan director Dimas Covas said that the data, on how effective the COVID-19 vaccine is, will not be released until the trial of China's CoronaVac would be completed on all of the 13,000 volunteers. It is having the best and most promising rates. The report stated that the result was only preliminary and that the researchers will keep monitoring the participants in the on-going trial. It's the first set of the results of Sinovac's Phase 3 global trials, which are also being conducted in Turkey and Indonesia. Meanwhile, 15 percent of the volunteers reported headaches after the first dose, dropping to 10 percent for the second. Less than 5 percent reported tiredness and even less of them had muscle aches. Talking about coronavirus update, Brazil has so far reported more than 5.2 million COVID-19 cases. Brazil is the world's 3rd most-affected country after the United States and India. -PTC News
