PTC News Desk: The BSE benchmark Sensex soared past the historic 84,000 mark for the first time on Friday morning, with the Nifty also reaching a new all-time high. This surge was driven by a rally in global markets following the US Federal Reserve's decision to cut its benchmark interest rate for the first time in over four years.

During morning trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 975.1 points, hitting a record high of 84,159.90. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty surged by 271.1 points, reaching a new peak of 25,686.90.

Among the 30 firms listed on the Sensex, major gainers included Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, Maruti, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Nestle, Bharti Airtel, and Adani Ports. In contrast, Tata Consultancy Services was the only stock to record a decline.

In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong showed positive trading trends, while Shanghai experienced a downturn. The strong performance in US markets on Thursday further bolstered investor sentiment.
