BMW to set up auto parts manufacturing plant in Punjab, says CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, September 14: BMW, the German luxury carmaker, has decided to set up an auto part manufacturing plant in Punjab, the state government announced on Tuesday. According to the statement issued by the Punjab government, the decision was made during state Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visit to BMW headquarters in Germany on Tuesday. Notably, the Punjab CM is currently on a visit to Germany to woo investors as his government promotes the state as the most preferred business destination. During his visit, the CM highlighted the state government's excellent work to promote industry in Punjab, following which BMW agreed to establish an auto component plant in the state, according to the statement. One such unit is already operational in Chennai, the statement added. CM Bhagwant Mann claims that this will significantly accelerate the state's industrial development and create new opportunities for the youth. He also invited BMW to work with the government on e-mobility projects. He stated that Punjab's EV Policy will bring in a new era for the state's e-mobility sector. punjab Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on the first day of his tour in the country, embarked on a series of engagements in Germany to promote Punjab as a preferred investment destination and woo global investments into the State. The Chief Minister was invited by CEO Messe Munchen GmBH Dr Reinhard Pfeiffer, to attend DRINKTEC 2022, the world’s leading trade fair for the food industry. During his one-on-one interactions with industry at the event, he extended a warm welcome to the global industrialists to attend the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit scheduled for February 23-24, 2023.
