Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the party will form government in UP with a two-third majority. Speaking during a public meeting in Anupshahar, the Home Minister said, "under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am sure that this time too Yogi Adityanath will become the Chief Minister with a two-thirds majority." Further slamming the opposition in Uttar Pradesh, Shah said that all mafia in the state are either in jail, have left the state or are in the Samajwadi Party's list of candidates. "We have fulfilled our promise of eliminating mafias from the western Uttar Pradesh. Women are safe in UP. In the last five years, there has been an exodus of mafia under the BJP rule. Mafia of Uttar Pradesh is now only three places. Either out of state or in jail or eager to become MLA in Akhilesh Yadav's list," said the Home Minister. Shah went on to say that after Article 370 was abolished in Jammu and Kashmir, not a single stone was tossed at the time. "The Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Congress all opposed the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, predicting violence, yet not a single stone was hurled at the time. Kashmir is now a part of India." "PM Modi aims to make Uttar Pradesh a developed state. He worked to build five expressways, widen 14000 roads, and run the metro in numerous cities as part of the BJP government's work in the state," said Shah, adding "if you give the BJP another chance, Uttar Pradesh will be the number one state in the country in the next five years." "During the SP-BSP governments, farmers' crops were not bought. Modi government is buying farmers' crops at MSP. The money for the crop purchase is being deposited directly into the bank account of the farmers. The Modi government is doing the work of transferring Rs 6,000 per year in the bank accounts of crores of farmers of the country," said Shah. Uttar Pradesh's 403-member parliament will be elected in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
